August 2006 Activation was between 01-22 August 2006 with Russian Federation in command.
The August 2006 Activation of BLACKSEAFOR included serialized training programs during the transits at sea and port visits to following ports: Novorossiysk (Russian Federation), Sevastopol (Ukraine) and Batumi (Georgia).
Change of Command Ceremony (COCC) was conducted in Novorossiysk on 05 August 2006 and the BLACKSEAFOR Command transferred from Romania to Russian Federation.
The focus of the August 2006 Activation was to further improve interoperability among naval forces, to review and experiment of the Sub-Concepts for Peace Support Operations (BSN-08), CBRN Defense at Black Sea and Harbors (BSN-12) and Rules of Engagement (BSN-13), to continue PC to PC communication system experimentations, as it was agreed by the BSNC. Nevertheless, the scope of the training was encompassed further exercising of the adopted BSN Sub Concepts in order to improve the level of training and interoperability within the force.
The BLACKSEAFOR August 2006 Activation lasted for 22 days, of which 6 days was scheduled training at sea and 16 days in port.
