The Fifth Activation was between 08-27 August 2005 with Romania in command.
The Fifth Activation of BLACKSEAFOR included the change of command ceremony, serialized training programs during the transits at sea and port visits to following ports: Constanta (Romania), Varna (Bulgaria) and Karadeniz Ereğli (Turkey).
Change of Command Ceremony (COCC) was conducted in Constanta on 14 August 2005 and the BLACKSEAFOR Command transferred from Georgia to Romania.
The focus of the Fifth Activation was to conduct maritime security training, to review and experiment of the Sub-Concepts for Peace Support Operations (BSN-08) and Sub-Concept for CBRN Defense at Black Sea and Harbors (BSN-12), to continue PC to PC communication system experimentations, as it was agreed by the BSNC.
The Fifth Activation of BLACKSEAFOR lasted for 20 days, of which 8 days was scheduled training at sea and 12 days in port.
